  • Inclusion & Diversity

At KEEYNS, we take the topic of diversity, equity and inclusion to heart and do our utmost to engrain conscious inclusion into our company culture. Our purpose is ”Happy clients through Tax Expertise with Tax Technology”. We can only accomplish this by continuously building a culture where everyone belongs. Our goals is to always make progress towards a more inclusive workforce and as a company to seek more ways in which we can contribute to making the world better.

We do this through different policies.

Our policies are part of all onboarding paperwork at KEEYNS, because they share the importance and guidelines of the culture we’re trying to create and the behavior that’s welcomed. There are several policies which all of our employees have signed, amongst which are an anti-harassment policy, a code of ethics and conduct, and DEI guidelines.

We ensure that our entire leadership consistently models inclusive behavior.

We believe that an inclusive culture starts at the top and includes all levels of the organization. That’s why we hold our leadership to a higher standard; they are the role models within KEEYNS. Our leadership is encouraged and supported to elevate the quiet voices in every meeting, regardless of who is in the (virtual) room. They are expected to use consciously inclusive language and calling out subtle acts of exclusion in every setting.

Perhaps most importantly, our leadership is expected to provide learning opportunities for those asking for guidance, and being open to learning opportunities themselves. The most important factor in this shared journey, is making the effort and adjusting when somebody else corrects you.

We ensure meeting free days on those important days that aren’t covered by the mostly Christian bank holidays.

The bank holidays in most European countries are tied to Christianity. However, there are several religions represented within those same countries, and we want to make it as easy as possible for people to take off days that are important to them. Therefore, KEEYNS has a list of days which are recognized as meeting free days for the entire company. In addition, we ask each new employee to share their most important cultural/religious holidays with us, so we can learn and expand.

We look for diversity and pro-actively ask for differing points of view.

We make a conscious effort to include as much diversity in our hiring processes as possible by adjusting requirements, working through external and internal referrals, and making sure that multiple people are involved in the entire process.
We proactively ask for differing points of view from different people, respecting their level of comfort. Things like asynchronous input, regular 1:1s, and enabling initiatives to further these efforts. When talking about initiatives to proactively stimulate differing points of view, we are talking along the lines of Disagreement Buddies; Disagreement Buddies are a rotating role in any brainstorming or team meeting where the person’s sole purpose is to argue the counterpoint to any idea that’s brought up, prompting the team to think about the topic from a different angle.

We’re not perfect, but we’re trying. At the end of the day, we’re only human and we have a lot left to learn. We are committed to making every effort and are open to learning, improving, and growing together.

To hold ourselves accountable, we’ve established a few statistics that we consistently monitor to support and direct our efforts, which we want to share with you here.
